The University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma used big early innings and held in the final few frames to earn a 10-7 victory over visiting Southwestern Oklahoma State University in baseball action Tuesday night in Chickasha. The win improved the Drovers to 17-7 overall while the Bulldogs dropped to 8-10.
WCJS opened with a two-run first inning and broke the game mlb game jersey open with seven runs in the second inning. The Drovers strung together five consecutive hits with Henry Rodriguez, Kenniel Rivera, Randy Ventura Christian Perez, Dillon White and Wyatt Hull each reaching base safely. Rivera had the only double of the group, scoring Rodriguez and Alexander Cortes.
Meanwhile pitcher Carson Corff was again solid on the mound. He allowed only three runs through six innings before giving up three in the seventh. Trevor Settles retired the last five batters in relief to get the save while Corff improve to 4-0 on the year with the win.
WCJS rattled off 19 hits against six different Bulldog pitchers. Ventura and Cortes each had four hits while Hull added three.
